Our son, John, was there as a camper in the 60s. Perhaps many will recall the successful Reunion in l983 in Charlevoix for Camp alumni and families, honoring Ken and Ruby. After a business career in Personnel Mgmt. and Education, lived in Charlevoix, then we retired to FL; vacation in MI often.

56 2006-04-06 19:57:53 Annie Dowling 1920s na Lewis Reimann, founder of Camp Charlevoix, also founded the University of Michigan Fresh Air Camp for Boys back in 1921. I have some early photographs of him from the archives at the Bentley Historical Library as part of the research on my masters thesis. He was a handsome young man and he seems to aged well in the photographs provided on your website. Please let me know if you would like copies of the photos of him at the UM Fresh Air Camp.

Most importantly, I was a GREY a I live in Grand Rapids, MI but have a cottage in Bay View near Petoskey, so I get over to Lake Charlevoix occasionally and have been to the residential development that was our Camp. I do have some group photos of the range and the cabin from both years that I will send on. I left Michigan in Winter of 1965. Camp Charlevoix is one of the things I miss most.

In 1963 was counselor for Cabin 10 and Head of Trips D My two summers at Charlevoix were very memorable. Lots of activities and friendships. Camp was structured, yet warmly managed by Ken, Ruby, Bill and others.

There were counselors w I learned to anesthetise a horse by biting on its ear while it was being sutured. I never used that method again in 36 years of anesthesiology.
